What the new COVID-19 tiers mean for weekly worship services

On Friday 20th November 11 local authority areas in Scotland were moved into the higher restrictions of COVID Tier 4.  On Tuesday 24th November 1 local authority area was moved into the lower restrictions of COVID Tier 2.

What does this mean for Wilson Memorial Church?

Wilson Memorial Church is situated in the local authority area of Edinburgh City.  Under the Scottish Government regulations, we are permitted to hold indoor worship services with no more than 50 people attending, however in order to facilitate 2 metre social distancing during services, we have had to reduce our capacity to no more than 28 people at any service.  To accommodate as many people as possible, we are currently presenting two services every Sunday morning (at 10:00am and 11:00am).  Details, including how to book, can be found in our August Covid 19 newsletter, Issue 5.  Please note that it is essential to book in advance.

What does mean for you?

Edinburgh City and Midlothian have remained in COVID Tier 3.  There are no changes of restrictions applying to people living in these areas, and you can still attend our weekly worship services as normal.

East Lothian has moved into COVID Tier 2.  Members and friends who live in East Lothian are allowed to travel to their normal place of worship if it is in a Tier 3 area, so you can continue to attend Wilson Memorial Church.

West Lothian has moved into COVID Tier 4.  Members and friends who live in West Lothian are not allowed to travel into Tier 3 for worship services.  Instead, please stay safe, remain at home and watch or listen to our services online or via podcasts.

What else is happening at Wilson Memorial this week?

Our Basics Bank, Food Bank, continues to operate as normal every Tuesday providing a critical service to individuals and families suffering hardship in our local community.  Follow the link to find out how we are preparing for Christmas at the Basics Bank.
