Good Friday Tenebrae Service

3:00pm at Wilson Memorial Church

On Friday, 29th March 2024, we will be holding a Good Friday Tenebrae Service – a service of shadows.

TENEBRAE: A Service of Shadows

The service of Tenebrae, meaning darkness or shadows, has been practiced by the church since medieval times. Once a service for the monastic community, Tenebrae later became an important part of the worship of the whole Christian community during Holy Week.

Tenebrae is a prolonged meditation on Christ’s suffering. The readings trace the story of Christ’s passion, music portrays the mood, and the power of silence and darkness suggests the drama of this history-changing day. As lights are extinguished, we reflect upon the depth of Christ’s suffering and death as we remember the unimaginable nature of His sacrifice, not just for us, but for the whole world.

At this time we invite you to join us, as we join Christians of many generations throughout the world in using the liturgy of Tenebrae.

This short service will be held in our small hall, and last for around half an hour

Basics Bank

Every week we help local families facing hardship, by providing them with much needed essentials including fresh food, cupboard and bathroom supplies. Recently we have seen an increase in the number of clients receiving this help from us, and as a result our supplies are low. If you would like to make a donation, this can be accepted at the Church on any of the open times. Or alternatively drop us a message through the website contact form, and we can make a specific arrangement. Click here to learn more about our Basics Bank
