Lockdown creativity means we bring you loads of activity
The doors are closed, but we are open
Unfortunately, the Scottish Government has had to introduce another Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, and we have had to suspend all in-person worship and other activities. Our Basics bank continues to operate every week as normal, providing an essential lifeline to people in crisis, but all other activities and events are cancelled until further notice. However, until we are allowed to re-open our doors, we continue to offer weekly worship and other fellowship services via our website, and live Zoom calls.
Weekly worship services take place whenever you want, wherever you want.
Each week Rev Mike prepares a video sermon which is available to watch direct from our website. We publish a weekly home service, which includes a call to worship, details of the scripture focus passage, the video sermon, a hymn of praise (also with video), and a benediction. Links to the video sermon can also be found on our Facebook page and twitter feed.
Dial a sermon
For our members who don’t have internet access, we also provide a “dial-a-sermon” ministry service. This allows members to listen to our weekly video sermon, using a traditional telephone. If you know someone who would like to use this service, please get in touch through our contact form.
We are also running a “telephone care ministry”, where every member receives a friendly phone call from a member of our care team each week.
But we don’t just stop there…..
Weekly newsletter
Each week we issue a newsletter, which details important advice about dealing with COVID-19 and staying safe during the lockdown, but also contains pastoral care information for our congregation and friends.
These handy helpful newsletters are distributed by email and post to every member, and are also available to download from our newsletter library.
Zoom in for a Cuppa and a chat
Isn’t it great when you can meet up with friends? Well that’s exactly what we thought, so every Thursday at 3pm we have a Zoom video conference cuppa call (you have to make your own cuppa). It’s a social meet-up that keeps everyone going. If you would like to join us, then please get in touch using our contact form.
Quiz Nights
If you’d like some lighthearted fun, then our quiz night might be just what you’re looking for. Using Zoom video conferences, we virtually link up our Quiz Master and contestants. Not just for adults, we also host junior quizzes for our Church School members.
During lockdown, we have been using the terms “Home Church” and “Church at Home” to describe many of the activities that we are continuing with. This is because our church has moved out of the one building, and into the homes of our many members and friends.
