Lenten Lunch Series

lenten-lunch

Lent is about much more than refraining from certain activities or pleasures.  It is a special time in the Christian calendar that takes place each Spring in the run up to Easter.  It begins in either late February or early March.  Lent lasts for 40 days (not including Sundays) and ends the day before Easter Sunday.

It is a time of personal reflection when Christians remember how Jesus spent 40 days and nights alone in the wilderness.  These 40 days, were not just about Jesus overcoming temptation, but also a time of preparation for His mission of Salvation.  Jesus used this time to prepare for His mission by fasting and praying.  For us, today, Lent is also a time for preparation, preparing us to receive the Good News that is Easter Day.  It is a time when we can reflect upon our own lives, and upon those things which have perhaps become a barrier or hindrance in our relationship with God.

So, this coming Lenten season beginning on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 you are invited to join Rev Mike on each of the Wednesdays throughout Lent between noon and 1:00pm, for an hour of fellowship, prayer, study, and praise.  The Lenten Lunch Series will have a theme, with each Wednesday focussed on a different aspect of the theme.  Please bring a packed lunch, and we will provide the tea and coffee.
